      Twenty Things- Dandelion Blu Jewelry

      1. I am recovering wedding and event photographer. I owned my business for 5 "seasons," and it almost killed me.

      2. Although I am professional photographer, I rarely have a camera on me, and when somebody says "we should get a picture of that" everybody turns to me expectantly...

      3. I have several rescued animals, and lost dogs seem to find me everywhere. My dream is to one day have a sanctuary where packs of homeless dogs can run and be guaranteed a home for life.

      4. On the topic of animals, my other dream is to one day have enough space for a goat, a pig, and free range chickens (not for eating.)

      5. On the topic of chickens, I have seen a chicken "running around with it's head cut off." Growing up my dad made an incubator and thought it would be educational for us to see chicks hatch. Pretty soon we had a huge flock and well, some became dinner.

      6. I love ketchup. I would put it on pretty much anything if it was socially acceptable. I consider french fries to be just a vehicle for the ketchup.

      7. I am directly related to Edwin P. Hubbell, the scientist who discovered the "Big Bang Theory," and for whom the Hubble Space Telescope is named for. When it was launched, my family got to go to Florida to see it.

      8. Halloween is my favorite "holiday." I eat up all those ghost story shows, and consider October the best month for t.v. watching.

      9. I can't wait till my boy is old enough for trick or treating, I want to make his costumes- yeah I'll be "that" mom, and he's going to be "that kid in the homemade costume."

      10. My Dad and I both think the house I grew up in was haunted. Also, every year my friend and I go on a ghost tour. We've exhausted all the ones in the area. I believe.

      11. My guilty pleasure is watching "90210" re-runs on the Soap channel.

      12. Speaking of "90210," when I was in college at UMBC I got a job at Planet Hollywood in the harbor. I was working at the opening and Luke Perry (aka Dylan McKay) was there. I was really disappointed in how short he was...

      13. I do not sing in public. Ever. Not even Happy Birthday. I've been caught lip syncing it!

      14. I never held a little baby till I had my own.

      15. I am not a natural red head- gasp! I've been dyeing my hair so long I am not sure what color it is naturally.

      16. My Grandmother is a professional clown named Petunia. She went to Klown Kollege and everything!

      17. My Grandmother also used to have a champagne pink Cadillac and she used to have her hair dyed to match it.

      18. I love to vacuum, my Dyson Animal is one of my favorite possessions. I also have a robotic vacuum that I named Rosie. I've been known to just start vacuuming at friends houses.

      19. I actually really like my Mother in law.

      20. Mango is my favorite flavor, gardenia is my favorite smell, baby sneezes are my favorite sound, fall is my favorite time of year, shades of blue/green are my favorite color, and near the ocean with my husband, baby and dogs, is my favorite place to be.

      Twenty Things: Anne Madison

Twenty things you didn't know about Anne of AMadison...

      1. I spent much, but not all, of my adult life as a computer geek. I
specialized in network security and network management systems. I quit
doing it in 2001 to make rosaries.
      2. For years I had an ego plate that read LANLADY. Other geeks used to
honk when they saw it. Everybody else thought it said LANDLADY.
      3. I have been a UNIX system administrator. I have the scars to prove it.
      4. My husband and I are currently owned by a recycled Beagle named
Spencer. He adopted us about five years ago. He’s rather elderly but
      still full of fun.
      5. Spencer was busted on Easter Sunday by Animal Control for undue
howling. He beat the rap because his dad was in the hospital.
      6. There is a lovely, small Two Gray Hills Navajo rug in our home.
      Spencer peed on it. Once.
      7. I lease my own Webserver. Currently I’m honored to host Baltimore’s
own “Mutts” blog, ohmidog.com, owned and authored by former Sun
      reporter John Woestendiek.
      8. I like to keep the geek side of my brain alive by developing
shopping cart and blog Websites for clients.
      9. I majored in French and Spanish. One of the most interesting jobs I
ever had was as a bilingual secretary at the Argentine Embassy in
      Washington.
      10. The combination of geekery and foreign languages has provided for
some interesting travel. About 15 years ago I led a team that worked
on Mexico’s voter identification system, a massive undertaking. Just
last year I had the great pleasure of doing some consulting and
      training in Paris.
      11. I also spent three months living in the Flamingo Hotel in Las
Vegas while I worked on a project to wire three Vegas properties for
the Internet. We spoke English. My key learning from that project was
that the only mathematically sound casino game is craps.
      12. I have a large collection of trade beads and love using them in my
work. Current prizes include Russian Blues, Hebron beads, some Kiffa
beads from Mauretania, and an actual radioactive “Vaseline” bead.
      13. My beloved Aged Mum, who died this past March at the age of 85,
was an artist and handweaver. I have been decorating our home with
      some of her work.
      14. At one point, I was an avid and fairly competent quilt maker. One
of my quilts, a School House, once won Honorable Mention at the
      Maryland State Fair.
      15. My first question when designing a piece of jewelry is “What would
Dotsie do?” That’s because I’m a great admirer of Beadazzled’s own
Dotsie Mack. Not to mention everybody else who works there. Look for
me there at least once a week, most weeks.
      16. I am a Mac evangelist. I love my Mac so much I have declared it a
      Microsoft Free Zone.
      17. I love my new iPhone. I love it so much! I just love it.
      18. My husband and I are still planning to finish hiking the
Appalachian Trail in sections. We've done a little less than half.
      19. On a recent camping trip to Assateague Island, the local ponies
chewed a hole in our tent and strewed our dirty laundry up and down
      the beach.
      20. Our yard is very small. I make compost in black plastic garbage
bags, which I hide behind the shrubbery.

      Twenty Things: Design by Night

Twenty things you don't know about Kolleen of Design by Night

      2. I prefer adopted dogs or give-away dogs to buying a dog from a breeder. There are so many unwanted animals out there who need a good home and most of them make great companions. My oldest dog Spanky was adopted from Baltimore County animal shelter and Flynt was a freebie who would have been taken to the pound if no one wanted him.
      3. Chartreuse is my favorite color.
      4. I am like a raccoon, I am attracted to anything that is glitzy.
      5. I have a huge collection of Dover clip art books, the ones with old woodcuts from advertisements.
      6. I have a BFA in drawing and hardly ever draw.
      7. I have five button jars.
      8. Every time I watch an animated movie I think that my husband looks like one of the characters (Mr. Incredible, Shrek, Kung-fu Panda, etc.)
      9. I love bodies of water, I find them relaxing and wish I were near one right now reading a book.

      Twenty Things: Zetta

Twenty things you didn't know about Sam of Zetta.
      1. I love thunderstorms.
      2. If I wasn’t pursuing a creative career, I think I’d like to fly helicopters for a living.
      3. My secret dream is to move to New Zealand and raise sheep.
      4. I have the short term memory span of a goldfish. I carry a little moleskine notebook with me everywhere to keep my thoughts in, since they certainly aren’t going to stay in my head.
      5. When out in public, my significant other and I often get mistaken for siblings. It can lead to some really funny or awkward situations, depending on how you want to look at it.
      6. I’m completely uninterested in sports, except for soccer. I can’t wait for the World Cup to come around again!
      7. I am seriously pigeon-toed.
      8. I sleep a lot—eight hours a night minimal, ten hours ideally. But I hate sleeping in past 8am. It makes me feel like I’ve missed out on something.
      9. I have incredibly vivid dreams, and they’re often the inspiration for my writing and art work.
      10. I hate romantic comedies, but I love action movies. The more explosions, the better.
      11. On a related note, Bruce Willis is my favorite actor, and has been since I saw Die Hard on TV at the age of six.
      12. If I had to choose one word to describe myself it would probably be: distracted.
      13. Chainmaille is my “detox” craft. It’s what I do when I’m stressed, angry or suffering some kind of artist’s block. I think it’s very relaxing.
      14. Sushi is my food of choice. Other than that, I’m not a big fan of meat.
      15. I’m kind of a geek. During my freshman year of college I beat an entire fraternity in their own Halo 2 tournament. It won me a ‘party animal’ t-shirt and a Hooters calendar. I’m sure my mom is proud.
      16. I’m a big fan of game shows, especially the really colorful, outrageous ones. The Price is Right is my favorite.
      17. I dislocated both of my knees when I was in elementary school. Now that I’m older, I can feel changes in the weather through them.
      18. Owls freak me out.
      19. I love children’s literature, and have read way more of it than I have ‘adult’ novels. It makes me sad every time I see one turned into a movie.
      20. I also enjoy reading quantum physics books. I won’t pretend that I completely understand the subject, but I think it’s interesting.

      Twenty Things: BakersWife

Twenty things you didn't know about Laura from Bakerswife.

      1. My full time job is teaching elementary art. It’s awesome! I love my kids so much.
      2. I adore Sondheim musicals. The most widely-known of these would be Into the Woods, from which I have drawn my username, my favorite character. She is known as “the Baker’s Wife” throughout the play.
      3. My brother got into Juilliard for grad school!! He begins this fall.
      4. Next to teaching and making art, singing is my love. I’m in a chorus and I take voice lessons. However, I am now having vocal problems which seriously bum me out. I won’t be able to sing much in the Mozart Requiem we are doing this week! That masteropiece does a lot to explain all the fuss over Mozart. Much of his other work seems to lack passion, but a guy who could be responsible for such music must have had something astonishing. It’s close to perfection.
      5. I’m a bit of a music junkie in general. iTunes informs me that I have 10,304 songs. A basically alphabetical artist sampling:
      Air
      Bjork
      Chopin
      Dale Warland Singers
      Ella Fitzgerald
      Feist
      Gnarls Barkley
      Hooverphonic
      Imogen Heap
      Jane Monheit
      Kanye West
      Lauryn Hill
      M.I.A.
      Neko Case
      Outkast
      Psapp
      Queen
      Rachmaninoff
      Sufjan Stevens
      TLC
      Univeral Hall Pass
      Van Hunt
      West Side Story
? Is there a band beginning with this letter that does not stink?
      Yael Naim
      ? See x.
      6. I once tried to be a jock. For a few years in high school I played basketball and volleyball, but determined that I am too sensitive and intellectual for that, and I really belong in choir.
      7. Baking is something I do for fun, and I would like to branch out a lot more, but the bottom line always seems to deliver a reality check- nothing is better than chocolate chip cookies.
      8. I can watch babies like other people watch TV. They’re just riveting. I adore kids of all ages, really.
      9. When I read to my students I do all the voices and funny noises.
      10. I majored in Art Education at Towson University.
      11. Someday I will buy myself a potter’s wheel, because I find throwing on the wheel tremendously satisfying and calming. It’s something I picture my self doing well into old age.
      12. I come from a family of musicians. My mom sings and plays piano. My brother is a trombonist. My dad plays cello, violin, mandolin, banjo, guitar, and bass. He bought an accordion off of eBay but no one uses it because it smells funny.
      13. Evidently, my current TV lineup is somehow dominated by reality shows! This I admit with chagrin. It includes: Jon and Kate Plus 8, What Not to Wear, Mythbusters, and when possible, the Daily Show and Colbert Report. My true favorite, and the only thing I do watch every week, is Project Runway. Currently, I am concerned about its welfare.
      14. I heart MarioKart.
      15. School is something I always loved as a student, so it should come as no surprise that I am now employed in one.
      16. My taste in food is akin to that of a nine year old. Macaroni and cheese, pizza, bread, hamburgers- these are all favorites of mine, but then I do adore crabcakes which might be cause for hesitation in some kids. I do eat my veggies, though.
      17. When I was a little girl, I loved earrings so much that I would make them out of anything I could find. Puzzle pieces, leaves, construction paper, you name it. I would then tape them to my ears with band-aids and proceed to WEAR THEM IN PUBLIC. Once I wore some frogs with googly eyes and the nice lady at the bank gave me an extra lollipop because she liked them.
      18. I enjoy fishing and camping, as long as I don’t have to touch the fish or bait, and there are shower facilities on site. I know it sounds odd but actually, we do this quite often as a family. My dad takes good care of me, what can I say? He’s just happy to have a girl that likes fishing.
      19. When I go to the beach, I spend hours collecting what must be gallons of shells. They usually make it home, but after that, they seem to get sucked into a black hole. Or, mom pitches them. Not sure which.
      20. My roommate and I often converse in Kelly-speak, used in the hilarious (or inexcusably silly) shoes video. Sometimes we forget ourselves and do it in public.

      Twenty Things: Cara Ober

20 Random Unoffensive Facts about Me, Cara Ober:

      1. If I had to eat only one food for the rest of my life I would choose ... wait for it ... peanut butter. The recent salmonella scare had me in a panic.
      2. I married a man I met in 7th grade Orchestra class. We both played the violin.
      3. I have two yappy smalldogs, Friday and Peppy, and I love them more than life itself. Their pomeranian antics entertain me constantly.
      4. I have never been able to choose between art making and writing. So I do both at the same time. I'm not sure how efficient this is.
      5. I can't touch my toes.
      6. For some reason, I receive People Magazine in the mail each week addressed to me, the Spanish Langauge Version, which I can't read.
      7. I am not a natural blonde. Hard to believe, I know.
      8. I am addicted to coffee. Hot in the winter and cold in the summer.
      9. I do not like dessert. Salt = Yes. Sugar = No.
      10. I have approximately 10 different jobs that actually pay me. But not very much.
      11. I live in a house that is 100 years old and my husband is fixing it up one room at a time. I use this as an excuse to not clean. Ever.
      12. I bite my fingernails like it is going out of style. I really enjoy it. I know it is gross.

      14. I adore body products that smell like mint or nuts. I detest body products that smell like fruits or flowers. Is coconut a fruit or a nut? I put it in the nut category, unless it is combined with a Pineapple smell, which ruins it for me.
      15. I always assume everyone I meet is gay. This sometimes gets me into trouble.
      16. I love Woody Allen. I love his movies. I love him. I really love him. I am watching 'Manhattan' right now. It is my favorite one.
      17. I refuse to shop at Wal-mart. I will not step foot inside. I get panic attacks and think they (the wal-mart people) are evil. Seriously. I don't understand why anyone goes there. There are some things more important than saving money. Yes, there is a tirade here.
      18. I am an pretty effing good cook. I never use recipes although reading glossy cooking magazines is one of my guilty pleasures.
      19. I am politically involved and interested. I will argue with anyone at any time. Gay marriage = fairness. Conservatives need to learn that time does not march backwards.
2o. I am a terrible driver. I sometimes check my email while driving.
