Need Application Help?

So I've just finished my last summer show, and already I'm busily applying for fall shows and filling up my calendar. This time of year, on the brief break from shows we crafters get in August, it's the perfect time to take a long look at the photos and statements we use for applications, and make sure we're representing ourselves the very best we can.

Kimberly Dorn, one of the Directors of the Crafty Bastards Arts and Crafts Fair in Washington, D.C., and the Handmade Mart in Silver Spring, MD, was kind enough to break it all down for Etsy, and for you. Read on!

Crafty Bastards Needs Volunteers!

Crafty Bastards in DC is looking for folks to volunteer at their upcoming show! Aside from the reward of helping out the crafting community and, working with a great group of people, you'll also be eligible to receive a gift bag ($100 value), including a limited edition Crafty T-shirt.

AND... all crafters who volunteer for a 5 hour shift will be in a drawing to win a free, non-juried booth space at Crafty Bastards 2009! If you work more than 5 hours, you'll get a bonus entry into the drawing to double your chances of winning. We'll pick two winners from our pool of volunteers.

If you'd like to volunteer, the two shifts you can pick to work are: 5am-10am, 2pm-7pm. The morning shift helps with booth set up and getting vendors' wares from their cars to their booth spaces. The last shift works at the CP booths, and also helps with clean up. Any shift that you can work is greatly appreciated. Breakfast and lunch will be provided by Whole Foods.

If you can work a shift, email Heather McAndrews at craftybastardsvolunteers(at) gmail(dot)com with the shift you want. You must sign up before Friday, September 12th at 5pm in order to take advantage of the free booth drawing.

Also, the vendor gallery is up and running! Check it out here - there's lots of BEST and Charm City Craft Mafia members representing! More info on Craft Bastards coming soon!

Saturday! Saturday! Saturday!

Crafty Bastards is this weekend! If you happen to know a crafty bastard personally, you probably haven't seen her for a while because she's barrocaded herself in the studio, or possibly handcuffed herself to the sewing machine on the dining room table (there will be no eating here).

But have no fear! Some of the craftiest bastards from near and far will come out of hiding this Saturday at Pyramid Atlantic in Silver Spring, MD.

I am really looking forward to seeing these Owly Shadow Puppets

and perhaps purchasing a Mean Card or two from Julianna Holowka...

There will also be BEST and Charm City Craft Mafia members in attendance along with many other Baltimore artists and crafters, so be sure to stop by and say hi!

This Saturday, June 28 from 10am-5pm
Pyramid Atlantic Art Center
8230 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, MD
