Feather, glitter, tassels and much, much more! Hold on to your hats because BEST has just announced it’s first annual BEST for BREAST fundraiser.

In the months leading up to Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October), BEST team members will create handmade pasties using the medium of their choice. The pasties will be up for sale on the BEST for Breasts Etsy site in mid to late September in time to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness month. With over 40 active members, including some who have survived breast cancer, BEST team members will use ceramic, fabric, feathers, metal and other materials to craft the pasties.

All proceeds collected from the BEST for Breasts sale will be donated to the Red Devils, a Maryland organization that funds services to improve the quality of life for breast cancer patients and their families.

I Heart Art: Baltimore

BEST is so excited to announce a new collaboration in Baltimore, intended to promote education, outreach and support of the city’s vibrant community of artists and artisans. This program brings BEST together with Etsy and the Maryland Institute College of Art, specifically, their new graduate program designed for artists and crafters seeking deeper understanding of how to run their creative businesses. There will be some great free workshops associated with the program, and we'll be posting the full schedule here on the blog soon. We'll also be launching an informational site just for the I Heart Art program, which will be live early 2011.

To kick off I Heart Art: Baltimore, there will be a meet-n-greet party on MICA campus on November 19, from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. ET. Food, drink, music and a craft activity will be included in the festivities taking place in Brown Center’s Leidy Atrium, 1301. W. Mount Royal Ave.

Come meet Vanessa and Morgan from Etsy and members of the Baltimore Etsy Street Team. There will be a raffle full of goodies from BEST artists, MICA, and Etsy, so get there early! And don't forget to bring your business cards!

Craft Party

Thank you all so much for coming out and hanging with us, it was a great time! Rachel and Heather did a great job prepping the "Baltimore loves Etsy" banner, which you can see in the first photo above, and which you'll also get to see at Pile of Craft this Saturday.


Tamara, Megan and Jill put together this awesome flamingo craft - we all had a great time customizing our own with sequins, feathers, glitter, and glue!

We'll be working on a collaborative banner project, and we'll have a few other crafty things up our sleeve. Maybe even some giveaways!

Featured Etsy Seller: Moon Raven Arts

Creating an Etsy shop opened so many doors for me. It got me out of the house, brought me into a community that inspired me to take a risk, and most importantly, connected me with other hard working creative people who have become dear friends. So last year, when my friend Rosalyn told me that she took the leap and opened up her own Etsy shop, Moon Raven Arts, I was so so excited for her.
