I love finding quality handcrafted items that are fun, funky, and show signs of lasting for a long time down the road, both stylistically and durability-wise. Behold Karen Kell, a leather artisan trained in San Miguel de Allende in central Mexico. Her vintage inspired line of shoes, bags, and accessories are high quality pieces that are handmade using traditional leather tooling techniques.
Kell's platform shoes come in an array of styles and colors, from these classic 70's vibe boho butterfly-tooled clogs, to the more colorful leather link wooden platform clog. She also makes bags, belts, and other accessories, and can even create custom matching sets of these items to suit your needs.
Maybe I'm just a sucker for the vintage vibe of these leather beauties, but I think Kell is really doing a wonderful job of keeping a traditional craft alive.
Check out more of her work on her Etsy shop.
