Defender's Day commemorates the war of 1812, when Baltimore was attacked by the British, and the writing of our nation's Star Spangled Banner. Events begin Friday with a ceremonial processional of soldiers dressed from the war of 1812, beginning at the Star Spangled Banner House downtown. There are fun family events Saturday and Sunday at Fort McHenry and a concert Saturday evening at 6:00pm, ending with fireworks that night. There is no better way to celebrate the creation of our country's national anthem than at Fort McHenry.
