Local Happenings: Baker Artist Awards at BMA

From September 7th to October 2nd, the Baltimore Museum of Art will be showcasing the Baker Artist Awards 2010-2011 grant winners. The three winners of the Mary Sawyers Baker Prize are visual artist Gary Kachadourian, performance artist Audrey Chen, and beatboxer and vocal percussionist Shodekeh (pictured). All of the 21 artists featured in the exhibit are local residents living and working in the Baltimore area. The exhibit is free and open to the public. The Baker Artist Awards was established by the William G. Baker, Jr. Memorial Fund in 2008 as a way to support and promote local artists living in Baltimore City and the surrounding five counties.
