Gunpowder River Artfest!

Great art, food, wine and music!
Gunpowder River Artfest is being held this year at Boordy Vineyard in Hydes, MD. The artfest is sponsored by the Northern Baltimore County Art Foundation. The event features juried artists from around the area, live music, food and great wine.

What Inspires Me: Sugar Paperie

How I love autumn in New York! This time of year I crave the city and get my annual fix of "When Harry Met Sally". I become dreamy and inspired by all that the Big Apple has to offer. My perfect day would most definitely include.....

A stroll in Central park with a hot cup of joe and my sketchbook.

A trip to the Museum of Art & Design where I could gaze at beautiful objects like this lace teapot by Edyta Cieloch.

My day would not be complete without popping into Anthropologie's flagship store at Rockefeller Plaza. I especially love the little gallery right as you walk in. Last time I visited, they featured the work of Vera Neumann, best know for her colorful silk scarves that she began producing in the 1940's.

Squidfire Philly Art Mart

Fall is a great time for a road trip. This weekend, grab a friend, hop in the car and jet up to Philadelphia for Squidfire's first Philly Art Mart. It will be held on Saturday October 17, from 11-6pm in the fancy schmancy neighborhood of Society Hill.

Over 40 of the best local and regional crafters and artists will display their handmade wares at the Old Pine Community Center in the heart of Philadelphia. Come visit BEST's Sugar Paperie, Jennyjen42, Yummy & Company ,Sweet Pepita, The Littlest Bean and The Broken Plate. This event goes on rain or shine. We hope to see you there!

Favorite Etsy Shop: Feral Goat

There's no question that I have a soft spot for the Midwest. I love the cornfields that dot the landscape, sparkling lakes, the way life crawls at a slower pace, deep dish pizza, and my sweet husband that I snatched up all the way out here in Baltimore. Being a girl from Indiana, I light up when America's heartland is mentioned. When I found Feral Goat's etsy shop, I was smitten.

Katie Scully's photography immediately takes me back to the greatness of the Windy City and it's outlying areas. Here she catches the vastness of Lake Michigan.




I romanticize the frigid winters now that I don't have to deal with them on a regular basis. This photograph makes me crave a brutally cold afternoon, followed by a mug of hot cocoa.



And the grittiness of the "L". How I love it so.

I can't seem to remember how I stumbled upon Essimar , but I am thrilled that I did. I love the play of color and seemingly simple repetition on each tiny little card. Somehow they take me back to my childhood days of Rainbow Brite, legwarmers and perhaps a little Cyndi Lauper
