Baltimore Life: Dogfest 2009

Baltimore is definitely a town full of “dog” people and with the crisp autumn air comes lots of family-friendly events you can enjoy with your pup in tow.

If you’re looking for a fun-filled day with your dog, FuzzyMug invites you to head to The Humane Society of Baltimore’s DogFest 2009 this Saturday (rain date is Sunday) at Shawan Downs in Hunt Valley. The focal point of the event is the “Paws on Parade” Pledge walk where individuals and groups can walk their pups to raise money for animals in need. Other activities for you and your pup include costume and skill contests with fabulous prizes, interactive games, a doggie swimming pool and beach area, a pumpkin patch and pet pics with Santa. There will also be food, drink, face painting for the kids, and a vendor area featuring local artisans (stop by the FuzzyMug booth and say "hi"!) and rescue groups.

So, pack up the whole gang and spend the day celebrating your furriest family member while supporting a great cause.

Date: Saturday, October 10, 2009 (Rain date, Sunday, October 11)
Location: Shawan Downs, 1401 Shawan Road, Hunt Valley, MD 21030
Entrance Fee: Adults & Children - $10.00 per person, Children in strollers - Free.

Good luck to you all this weekend. I would love to d have taken the "kids" to this one if we were in town. We will be sending good thoughts. Our 12 year old boy angus had surgery on his bladder today to remove a stone and is recovering happily as I write so our thoughts are out there with all of the fuzzy loved ones.

Wow! DogFest was insane (in a good way). They are estimating that 8,000 people came out. It was definitely crowded and there was tons of stuff going on. We had a good day and handed out tons of cards and made a few sales. Definitely one of the best dog related events of the year!
